Anybody a fan of the game?

I go to see it played live , but for those of you not aware, you can watch the games live online, and bet as well.

The sport is going through some tough times for lots of reasons, but back in the day, there was no better place to be on a Saturday night then at the Fronton, with some big money people pouring in from all over to watch

If any of you are looking for new ways to lose , I mean gamble, your money

we used to go and throw our money away at the jai alai place up in newport, r.i. back in the day...

-that game is as rigged is it comes!

I used to go to the fronton all the time..I quit betting parimutuals years ago..but Jai Alai was very exciting to watch in person..I guy can get killed at any time too by one of those hard ass pelotas..Member a guy called Joey?..He was my fav..Hell I did not know they still played the shit..Damn

Rigged? You mean every other sport is not?

That never bothered me as long as I was on the right side!

I agree, its amazing to see live, where you can really appreciate the speed of the game

I've only gone once in my life, one night in Ocala, FL about 10 years ago. After reading this I feel sort of privileged to live so close to a fronton. I'd like to go back once more before the end.

Jai Alai is a lot of fun to go to and bet on. Just dont expect to make money, thats why it fails. people dont gamble for entertainment, they want to win. You wont win betting jai Alai but it is fun as hell to bet on.

Squares get hammered by the high take out and cant stomach that the players might make a bad shot sometimes on purpose that hurts them, so they quit going. The problem is the take out, not an occasional fix, which you could be on the right side of as well.

Ive been to Dania Jai Alai, its a complete morgue filled with a few degenerates who show up to try and make a few extra bucks, but who can't really afford to lose. It isnt pretty.

Dania is a palace compared to Miami!

The poker room is nice though, and hopefully they can get slots to help fill the place

I really do enjoy betting and watching online too.

I usually will log on around 10 at night, and there are still 4 or 5 games left to bet on. Sometimes they go until 12-12;30, and I'm a late night person so it gives me something to do. They start at 7, and have matinee's Tuesdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

I Spend much more time betting online after football season is over

It is a great sport to bet on, and lots of fun too root for your team and figuring out how even though they have zero points, they can still win, if this and that happen!

If you watch enough, you will start to see which players are good and whose bad.

Its tough to win, like horses, but it can be done.

If any of you guys are coming to Florida for the break, try to stop in and check it out.

You will have a good time.

By the way, the crowd at Dania is all seniors, very safe environment

Dosn't look very fun, sort of boring to be quite honest. The video clip I watched showed fan's not really even paying attention to what was going on. Have fun.

I love going but it gets more depressing each time I go. Sometimes there are a 100 people there. I "almost felt bad" for the players because it is so dead in there you can yell whatever you want and boy do they hear you.

For some reason I always do well betting on it even though there is a minimal amount of handicapping that goes into most of the bets.

Actally this thread has rekindled my interest..I will go in the middle of next week to a matinee ( day session)..because I do not have 1,000s of $ to lose like most the posters here..I will go with a budget of 100 bucks and see if I can meet up with Sammy Straight, Quincy Quinella or Tommy Trifecta..I am but a poor negro child and cannot afford to lose more than 100 bucks this time of year on a dying parimutuel sport that I do not beleive is profitable..will go for shits and gigs and see if Lady luck desides to accompany me..will post my experience and results..one time I was there I went to watch a boxing match..I was buzzed and and did not give way to this gargantuan ogre approaching me and shoulder butted him because he expected me to give him the right of way and I was playing dat..i watched 3 fights that night but my buddies said I took the best punch of the night..security was all over us in seconds pulled us apart as I Bill Romanowskied him..Saw him there a week later and we shook hands and he said I earned his respect..I went to sleep that night with blurred vision with no regrets..I hope the losing atmosphere I sensed the final time I was there was my imagination..bunch of low lifes walking around with a program, cheap shoes and a cigarette..

I used to play the game at a pretty high level, have practiced with pro players, and played competively against guys that later became pro players.

Over 25 years ago, though.
